Community Connections
Community Connections is about ensuring we are a community that works together.
It’s about creating an environment where everyone belongs; a community where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued. We don’t discriminate based on who we are, whether it be race, age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion or disability. We also stand up for one another against bullying and hate, from social media to foreign adversaries.
It’s about supporting our small businesses to help them succeed. How can we as residents meet the needs of our small businesses to help them grow and thrive?
We are a community where we can work together to enhance each other’s lives. Here are a few ideas:
DOGS AND DONUTS: This is a program for our seniors. Many seniors felt isolated during the pandemic and are happy to be back to social events. Some seniors also enjoy animals but are unable to care for their own pets. DOGS AND DONUTS teams up with local rescues and offers morning coffee and donuts along with the opportunity to interact with appreciative rescue dogs who are awaiting homes. When breakfast is finished, seniors are invited to join us for a “pack walk” around town.
NexGen MB: We have many successful business leaders in Manhattan Beach, including entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, corporate executives, creative artists, athletes, etc. NexGen MB connects our kids with these leaders to provide guidance and knowledge that will help them as they carve out their future. Events include a social speaker series featuring local leaders, local summer internship opportunities, job connections, and specialized training on topics like financial literacy.
Business FIRST Tuesdays: On the first Tuesday of every month, our residents will be encouraged to shop and dine as a community through specialized events.
